Mexican Flag Necklace
Cinco de Mayo (Spanish for "Fifth of May") is one of favorite Mexican holidays to commemorate a glorious victory over French forces at the battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862. This is a famous Mexican culture festival with a lot of music, dances, yummy foods, and drinks.
Cinco de Mayo is celebrated not only in Mexico but all around the World. According to Wikipedia.org, "On June 7, 2005, the U.S. Congress issued a Concurrent Resolution calling on the President of the United States to issue a proclamation calling upon the people of the United States to observe Cinco de Mayo with appropriate ceremonies and activities."

If you are hosting your own Cinco de Mayo Fiesta then you will find some decoration ideas here.
  • Red, White, and Green are colors of the Mexican flag and it is good idea to use this palette for the party room, table runners, and wall décor.
  • It is very traditional for Cinco de Mayo celebration to decorate party with paper flowers. Shop for flower you like or do it yourself. Inexpensive and bright deco mesh is the best for this purpose.
  • Straw Sombreros are great costume accessories as well as party decorations.

Mexican music is the must for celebrating Cinco de Mayo.
Consider hiring a traditional mariachi band to play at the party. You can also create a festive party playlist to set the tone for your event. Let sounds of mariachi, meringue, salsa, and cha-cha-cha add fun to your fiesta. And give your guests maracas to shake and groove them with music.

Have you ever heard of empty stomach party? Of course, NO! And Mexican cuisine is famous for its hot and spicy dishes - Chicken Molé, Enchiladas Rancheros, Mexican Risotto,  Tortilla Chips, Tamale Pie - to name few.
Don't forget of live entertainment. A piñata of toys and candy treats will set a festive ambience and offer your guests some friendly competition.
Probably, some drink won't spoil your party. (Cinco de Mayo is the second largest beer consuming day of the year after St. Patrick's Day.) Make sure you have enough cups for your fiesta.

Mardi Gras Mambo

Mardi Gras is celebrated on the Tuesday before Ash Wednesday. Mardi Gras is also known as Fat Tuesday. This name was given to Mardi Gras because people would eat as much as possible before fasting for Lent. The period of Lent is the eight weeks before Easter when fasting and other self-denials are practiced by Protestants and other Anglican churches. Parades are known to start about two weeks before Mardi Gras day. A krewe is an organization formed to help arrange parades and masquerade balls. Each parade is given a name according to what the krewes decide on. Krewes would decide what kind of theme their parade would have. An example of a theme would be the Krewe of Proteus. This parade would have an Egyptian setting. Each float in this parade would be decorated with an Egyptian theme. Parades still have themes today.
